Wake Wars is around the corner so be sure to leave Saturday and Sunday night, July 25th and 26th wide open. The BOB in downtown Grand Rapids will be the only place to be on both days with Wakeboarding, Skateboarding, BMX, Volleyball, and more all going on in one parking lot! If you're thinking about riding in this new contest be sure to call the Hudsonville store and ask for Kevin to make sure you have time to get all your paperwork done. You MUST preregister for this event at least 2 weeks in advanced, NO EXCEPTIONS!

Walled Lake Beach Party 2009

We're just week and a half out from the 2009 beach party and now in its third year, the beach party will be bigger and better than ever! Doug Gierosky and the Pine Lake Ski School team do a great job organizing the event and working with the city of Walled Lake to make this a weekend of wake that no one wants to miss! Head out July 11th for the Rail Jam. 16 competitors go head to head in a double elimination tournament including an A-Frame, Rooftop, flat box, and kicker.

Saturday the rails are removed and Michigan's biggest 4 division wakeboard tournament gets underway. Come out, hang out, and don't miss one of Michigan's biggest Wake Fests.

Global Invitational Results 2009

The Global Invitational did not disappoint last weekend at Placid Waters with multiple head to head passes into 41 off and skiers jumping 220+ feet. We had amazing weather all weekend and the skiers had only positive remarks of the new site in Allendale.
When things wrapped up between 8 and 9 pm, Freddy Krueger proved he can fly the farthest, Will Asher outstretched Nick Parsons, and Glenn Valentine proved to out match the rest sticking 720s, Crow Mobes throughout the day.

Global Invitational Week

Global invitational week is here! Skiers from all over the world are flying into Gerald R Ford and heading to Allendale for the competition! Be sure to get your tickets in advance at AWS to save some money. We call this Global Invitational week because there is soo much more than just the tournament on Saturday afternoon.

Tuesday - Wednesday
Jodi Fisher is in town early and on the water giving slalom clinics. Catch Jodi in TC tomorrow and in Grand Rapids on Wednesday.

Thursday
The athletes will be out at the lake for a media session and then heading to AWS for a meet and greet. Swing into Action from 4-6 and meet all the athletes.

Friday
Qualifying day out at placid.

Saturday
Join us at Placid Waters for the main event starting at 3pm with the National Anthem. Then we'll see who has what it takes to make it through the 8 man finals of Ski, Wake, and Jump to take home the top spot.

Ronix brings 5 gallons of Freedom to West Michigan

Ronix riders Dean Smith and Parks Bonifay hit the water with us on June 14th and brought the 2009 line up of Ronix goods along with. We had boat loads of people all day and put lake Placid to the test when PB and Dean took sets behind our loaded up X15.
Lake Placid is an amazing place to hold events, even with a strong breeze at parts of the day the lake stays as flat as ever and is perfect to get a couple tips from the pros.

Free Ski Nights begin

Free Ski Nights began last Saturday June 6th on Bass Lake. These nights are tailored to the beginner skiers who want to learn to ski the course. Action has partnered with the MWSA to open course skiing to the public on 11 days across the state. You cover the small insurance fee and we'll take care of the gas! Here is your chance to get a free lesson behind a new ski boat. Call your local AWS to find the lake nearest you and get driving directions!

Today is the first day of the 2009 Pro Wakeboard Tour and if I could be anywhere in the world I'd be getting off a plane in Fort Worth, Texas. All of the who's who of wakeboard have decended once again to see who will take home the large cardboard checks on Sunday Afternoon. You might not be able to take off work and jump on a plane but you can follow a few key Twitter accounts to get the low down on who not to mess with in Texas.

Ronix Slider Build day 2 & 3

Day 2 was cut short due to rain but we were able to drive around and find a few barrels and make a trip back to Lowes for more wood. Day 3 we finished the frame. Next we'll drag it to the lake and water test to make sure the whole thing floats evenly.

Parks Bonifay and Dean Smith are bringing 2 gased up MasterCrafts to Placid Waters and they are looking for people to ride with. We still have 15 spots available so stop into Action in Hudsonville to add your name on the list!

We'll arrive at placid at 10am Sunday, June 14th and pack as many riders in as possible before 4pm. Winch Wars #1 is just under 2 weeks away! The Ronix crew decided to up the antie this year by helping us out with a new slider box for the pond. Last night Ryan and I headed to Lowes to hunt down some lumber and screws and a few Red Bulls later, This frame was born. We'll keep posting images up on the blog as the build comes together.
If you'd like to try this new creation out, Head over to our Fenton store June 6th for our Tent sale and Winch Wars event. We'll have food in the parking lot and you can ride to your hearts content on the winches all day for only 5 dollars!

About ready to break out the sandals for the summer but it just isn't warm enough yet? Cheat the system like the rest of the AWS crew with the best kept secret of spring, Sanuk Sidewalk Surfers! These aren't shoes but really aren't sandals. It's like a crazy hybrid scenario that just feels right on your feet! But don't take our word for it. look at the image in this blog. Even The Lion, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and Dorthy are choosing Sanuks! I guess what I'm trying to say is don't be like the Wicked Witch of the West, get Sanuks and your feet will thank you!

We've got a great selection already and another 50 pair on the way. If you don't see the size or style you like, let us know and we'll have it on order ASAP.

New Formats for 2009 Summer Events

We're really excited about the 2009 event lineup. Last August marked the first winch event in the Fenton pond and since then we've been working to make the 2009 winch events better than ever! Ronix steped up to the plate and we're about to start building a new 30' long box to be used at lots of events this summer. This box is going to be great for the little guys just getting started right on up to the outlaw rippers! We'll post updates on the build this spring but for now, start planning on making it out to winch the new box yourself! Check out the box at these events throughout the summer:
-Winch Wars #1, June 6th at the Fenton store.
Preregister to ride all day for $5 bucks!

-Ronix Ride with a Pro day June 14th in Allendale, MI.
Ride with Parks Bonifay and Dean Smith! Boat spaces are limited but the winch will be running on the side too! Hang out with us at Placid Waters.

-Global Invitational June 27th in Allendale, MI
Outlaw wakeboard tournament to be included in the Pro Waterski and Pro Jump competition. Ride in front of the crowd and battle it out for $2,500 in prize money!

-Wake Wars at The BOB July 25th &26th in downtown Grand Rapids
this 2 day Par-T-que will be held in the parking lot of the BOB. There will be winching and much much more at this weekend event.

-Georgetown Shores Wakeboard Tournament August 15th in Hudsonville, MI
This classic wakeboard event will feature the new box! We'll incorporate it into some of the divisions

-Winch Wars #3 August 28th at the Fenton store.

Local Wakeboarders invited to the Global Invitational

Skiing and wakeboarding will unite once again under a new tournament format at the Global Invitational June 27th in Allendale, MI. With 3 lakes all at one site, pro skiers, pro jumpers, and the best regional wakeboarders will take to the water in the morning to qualify for a chance to win a part of the $29,500 in prize money paid out only to those who podium.

Each of the contestants that move on from the qualifying rounds will compete on our center "Global Championship" lake in front of the crowd as we narrow the playing field to the final round and crown the winners.

A new Pro Waterski event, The Global Invitational visits west Michigan on Saturday, June 27, 2009. Everyone is extremely excited about this new event which will feature Pro Men's Slalom, Pro Jump, and the most progressive local wakeboard tournament Michigan has ever seen!

This new format is made possible at Placid Waters. Placid Waters is the only site in Michigan (and one of only a handful in the country) with 3 competition worthy lakes lined up side by side. Spectators will be able to demo a new ski on Radar Lake, walk over to Global Championship Lake to see the pros, and head over to Ronix Lake to see how their friends are doing at the wakeboard competition!

As the day moves forward everyone will descend on Global Championship Lake to see the top qualified skiers, jumpers, and wakeboarders battle it out for a total cash prize of $29,500.

The Midwest Hyperlite rep stopped into the store yesterday and dropped off the trailer for their new DVD coming soon "Rewritten." This trailer has been floating around the net for a while but it never hurts to re post it here. This spring is going to be packed with new releases. This week is going to be big! Here are a few reasons why:

If you are in Grand Rapids and have the itch to wakeboard, meet up with us in Hudsonville because we're dropping a boat in for the first ride of the year tomorrow at 5pm. That's right we're wakeboarding on Tuesday! If you'd like to get a set in tomorrow night call the store and ask for Kevin. We need to know who to expect so 10 people dont show up at 7:45 to grab the last run before the sun goes down!
